Medellin Coffee Tour
Everyone who comes to Colombia wants to know more about the country’s world famous coffee.
However, you don’t need to travel into the depths of Colombia to explore an authentic working coffee farm. Here in Antioquia, we’re also famous for growing some of the finest coffee in Colombia. Now you can see the origins of your favorite caffeine kick on a most rewarding full day coffee tour.
Visiting a Coffee Farm is the "must-do" thing when in Colombia. Our farm is close to Medellin thus you can have the traditional Medellin Coffee Tour experience in a full day tour without spending 3 days travelling to the more touristy coffee triangle.
You can't visit Colombia without visting an authentic coffee farm
On the Toucan Medellin Coffee Tour you’ll have the opportunity to visit an authentic working coffee farm 1.5 hours from Medellin. Be sure to have your camera ready en-route as we drive through Antioquia’s luscious green landscape. With a perfect climate it’s not hard to see why Colombia is one of the largest flower exporters in the world.
At the coffee farm you’ll learn the entire process of making coffee from the plant until the cup and you’ll get to know the daily life of Colombian coffee cooperatives who still produce coffee in a traditional and fair way.
The coffee finca (farm) that we visit is very typical of many small family businesses in Colombia who produce an exclusive coffee that, of course, you will get to taste.
We’ll stroll through the coffee plantation as the farm manager explains the origins of coffee, starting with growing the healthiest plants through to collecting the red coffee cherries that are eventually processed into dried green coffee beans. After building up a healthy appetite from the fresh country air, we’ll sit down for a hearty and delicious traditional Colombian style lunch.
When your appetite is satisfied, you’ll learn about the roasting process that takes the odorless green coffee bean and converts it into the rich brown bean that we all know and love; full of flavor and succulent aroma. Listen closely as the coffee farmer explains the key characteristics of a great coffee, both in scent and taste, and shares how to prepare a great cup of coffee at home.
After seeing the painstakingly manual process required to grow, harvest, dry, roast, grind and then brew a cup of coffee you’ll never take this everyday drink for granted again.
At the end of the Medellin coffee tour you’ll have the opportunity to buy freshly roasted coffee straight from its source, the perfect souvenir from Colombia to share with family & friends (or drink all on your own)!!
Family Coffee Farm Tour.......Outstanding!
I will never drink another cup of coffee again, without thinking about the degree of work, dedication, and love that is put in every drop, especially from the operation of this loving coffee farming family. The time and the experience were invaluable. I would do it again, and if you have the opportunity in Medellin, it is a must do.
Best Tour I've Ever Been ON
I have traveled to over 40 countries and spent three years as a tour guide for Boston Duck Tours, one of the best tours in the world. The coffee farm tour though was truly the best I have experienced. Everything was seamlessly planned out and excellent and the tour increased my coffee knowledge tremendously. Our guide, Catalina was awesome, knowledgeable and personable. If you like coffee and have some time, do this tour!
